SNAPSHOT Series – Denmark (2001–)
An Open Archive of Photographic Observations
Initiated in 2001 with the purchase of the artist’s first digital camera, Snapshots is an ongoing series of observational photographs.
Made without a predefined project or destination, the works record moments when places, objects, people or situations briefly detach themselves from the ordinary. The photographs are not staged or sought after, but discovered through sustained attention to the visual peculiarities of everyday life.
Some remain independent images, while others gradually develop into more sustained bodies of work, making Snapshots both an autonomous series and the point of departure for the artist’s broader photographic practice.
Together, the photographs form an open archive of visual observations collected over time. More than a series in itself, Snapshots functions as a visual laboratory from which all of the artist’s subsequent photographic series have emerged.
